It was -16 on the thermometer when I peeked at 8:30 AM. That's without the wind chill. The county declared a state of emergency, and all the schools were closed. We haven't yet checked to see whether all the birds survived the night. . . .
LATER: One ringneck died. The others were unhappy but fine.
It remains to be seen how this cold snap and closure will affect the Ithaca school bond vote today.
