She's Puerto Rican by way of New York, and she's approximately like Souter in liberal bent. She has a reputation as being not-that-bright (see
Jeffrey Rosen in The New Republic), but even he concedes that she's generally competent and can stand up to the big boys.

Hard to take Mr. Rosen too seriously when his column is up against the big flashing web ad for Ann Coulter.
Don't think TNR has been worth reading for about 20 years or so, now....
It's also interesting that the same "unintellectual" criticisms were lowered against Thurgood Marshall and Clarence Thomas. Although I'm sort of with them on Thomas. . . .
