A quick skim of today's news: Caterpillar lays off 5,000. Sprint lays off 8,000. Home Depot lays off 7,000. ING lays off 7,000. It's enough to make you nervous.
Alas, it doesn't make the national news like Home Depot, but let's pause to note that our favorite atomic clock company, Symmetricom, also announced sweepeing layoffs this week (http://biz.yahoo.com/bw/090120/20090120006139.html?.v=1), amounting to 11% of the total workforce.
Don't be fooled, though. Business is good. They're just moving the production to China.
