Kristof has a piece today on the failed politics of peace, referring to the Dalai Lama.
“After he’s gone,” the monk added, “there definitely will be violent resistance.”
This notion of a Tibetan Hamas is a scary one and not something I'd considered before.

Unlikely there'll be a Tibetan Hamas. First, there has been something like the equivalent in Xingjiang for the last 30 years, and they're even Muslim. Heard much about them? Didn't think so. It makes perfect sense that when the Dalai Lama goes there will be big protests and riots, just like last month, and the results will be similar. Tibet may or may not become more unstable afterward, but I don't see any effective 'terrorist network' there in the short or long term.
