Chicken Eater

We saw this guy (well, not exactly this guy) crossing Hunt Hill at Midline on our way home from the library yesterday. He could easily nab several of our chickens without a second thought. Luckily, he has some geese to choose from at the Dusenberry Farm down there. Where there's one mink, there are probably many more.

I lost a chicken last week in what appears to be a mink incident. And Mahlon killed a mink in his chicken coop recently. Hmmm...

I forgot to tell you, a colleague of mine (who lives near Danby) also has a female black bear and some cubs hanging out at his house. He told me today he came home to find them "hanging" out on his deck!!!

We found a dead weasel in the house, apparently a victim of the cats. No sign of minks yet, though.

I worry that I'm making more and more parts of the yard look like a prison with the fencing we're putting in, but so far, so good. (Except for the cost of the fencing.)
